How to share parts of a ChatGPT or Claude conversation
Share links give people the whole chat or answer. Here is how to share exactly what you want to share.

A share link from ChatGPT or Claude gives the reader a frozen copy of a conversation. That is sometimes fine, but often you want to control exactly what gets shared and how. Here is what the built-in links do, and two ways to share exactly what you mean with SpaceMD.

Method 1: Connect SpaceMD to ChatGPT or Claude
It's simple, takes under a minute, approves in your browser, and needs no API key.
For Claude
Set up a connector. Click "+Add."
Name it "SpaceMD" and fill in "https://mcp.spacemd.ai/mcp" as shown below.
For ChatGPT desktop app
Click "Settings" (important), then "Plugins", then "Add" and select "Add MCP server"
Select "Streamable HTTP", name it "SpaceMD" and fill in "https://mcp.spacemd.ai/mcp" under "URL" as shown below. Leave the rest blank.
Example of workflow
We asked ChatGPT for a checklist, then sent this:
Put only that checklist into a new SpaceMD note titled "Before you share an AI answer", label it Blog/Article, and create a guest share link with no password. Reply with just the link.
Fourteen seconds later it replied with the link.
Share it directly, or open it in SpaceMD to edit:
The note is now a document, so you can keep working on it from the chat. "Add one more item to the top of that note" updates it in place, at the same link. In Claude we said "Add category headlines" and got the list reorganized under four headings, same link.
Method 2: Copy, paste, share
Use this when you have no connector, or when you want to cut inside an answer by hand.
- Click the copy button on the answer. In ChatGPT and Claude it copies markdown, so headings, tables and code blocks survive.
- In SpaceMD, create a new note and paste.
- Edit freely as you like, or edit in real time together with others.
- Share: Under Links, create a link: allow editing or not, allow guests (no account needed), add a password, set an expiry. Under People, add named people as viewers or editors. Under Publish, put it on a public page at a custom URL.
Frequently asked questions
Can I share just one answer from ChatGPT?
Yes. Use the share option on the individual response and the link can be limited to that response. You still cannot trim inside it, edit it afterwards, restrict who opens it, or set an expiry.
Can I share just one answer from Claude?
Claude's share link is a snapshot of the whole chat up to that point. To send one answer, use either method above.
Do recipients need a SpaceMD account?
No. A guest link opens without an account or sign-in.
Can recipients edit the note?
Only if you turn on "Allow editing" for the link, or add them as an editor under People.
Will a shared note show up in Google?
In SpaceMD, you decide. You can chose to "Publish" in the app, or ask you AI to publish it through SpaceMD.
Does copying keep the formatting?
Yes. The copy button in ChatGPT and Claude gives you markdown, and SpaceMD is markdown-native, so tables and code blocks paste as tables and code blocks.
